Drama writer and director Ko Tin-lung is an experienced storyteller. He explained the importance of storytelling in communicating with children.

The father-and-artist shared with members the fun of storytelling through interactive games and workshops, helping them build a closer relationship with their children.

Role model for children

The first seminar Family Communication was hosted by Ko Tin-lung. Ko said that family is the first school and emphasized on the importance of parental role modeling for children. He invited a child from the audience to play an instant drama with him, to illustrate parental impacts underlining children's development. Using positive notes like 'I want' as opposed to negatives 'No, you can't', will help instill positivity in children's unconscious mind

Building ties through games

Ko recommended three games for effective child-rearing - role-playing, drama and trampoline. Trampoline has at least 30 benefits, as it vitalizes the body and trains eye sight, focused mind and more. Meanwhile, role-playing and drama are not only interesting but also let children and parents interact and communicate. Drama can also develop children's creativity, expression ability, confidence and, more importantly, let them see from others' perspectives.

Ko also urged people to drink more water and take more exercises. After getting up in the morning in particular, people should drink more water as human body, especially the lungs tend to dehydrate without water intake overnight. Human brains have 80% made of water, so drinking more water certainly benefits health. He reminded that family harmony will not be possible without health.
