A nice interior can harmonize your living environment.

Noted interior designer Amanda Fung updated members on the world trend of home design and taught them how to incorporate green elements into interior design. At the same workshop, two well-known gardening specialists from mainland China showed how planting can make a comfortable home.

Adding life to interiors with a few tweaks

In the Green Home seminar, noted interior designer Amanda Fung said that latest design trend emphasized on out-of-the-box ideas, for example, using gimmicky furniture, clear-grained wood and wallpapers or clothing with big flower patterns, to add life to the interiors. Using mirrors wisely can also add spaciousness. For example, a mirror close to the window can bring outside view and daylight indoor, and one fitted on the ceiling close to the window will offer spaciousness like a balcony.

Amanda said that tweaking existing settings with creativity can also generate brand newness. For example, polish marble or dye wood floor in different colours can bring fresh feel without re-tiling. This way of eco-interior changes also educates children about environmental protection.

Bonsai - a wordless poem and a living drawing

In the same seminar, bonsaists Lu Yuquan and Liang Shiling explained how indoor potted planting helps harmonize home environment. Bonsai is better known in Asia as 'wordless poem or a living drawing' for its aesthetics. The bonsaists said that different bonsai styles can bring nature indoor.

The process of potted planting trains inner peace and aesthetical appreciation, as it demands patience in planning, styling and pruning. Members at the seminar had chance to try pruning under the experts' guidance. They generally believed that the seminar upgraded their green knowledge and many said they will start potted planting at home.
