The SHKP Club staged a Loving Home - Smile Story competition to promote the ideal of Loving Home. It attracted over 5,000 entries of happy family stories and the winners attended an award presentation ceremony recently and shared their special loving home moments.
Hui Chor-yan was top of the member category. She cherishes the happy times with her four siblings and believes happiness comes from her family's laughter. She also hopes people will appreciate family time as many people want independence when they grow up and spend less time with their family when they move out on their own.
Second in the member category was Wong Lok-kan. He said: "I have physical disability but my mother encourages me to be an achiever. I am blessed with her love." His mother loves him deeply and helps build his self esteem. She loves smiling and puts a lot of positive energy into his life. He began volunteering more than eight years ago with her support, and his efforts were recognized in the 2009-2010 Hong Kong Outstanding Youth Volunteers Scheme.
Yuen Wing-hang was third in the member category. She has been through difficult times with a serious illness and being unemployed, and her father was also adjusting to the changes after retirement. They did not talk about their issues until one day they went to a park together and took a picture at the ferris wheel. Since then they started to smile and talk again, and now she realizes the importance of caring for each other in a family.
