SHKP Reading Club Autumn activities encourage reading and exercise

Reading and exercise are good for physical and mental health. The SHKP Reading Club’s autumn Read On, Move On sport and literary activities take participants beyond books, with cycling, stairway cultural tours and author talk for a new take on reading.

Combining the fun of reading and exercise

The first two activities, Kam Tin Cycling Tour and How Yogis Read were held recently. The Kam Tin Cycling Tour gave participants a deeper understanding of the history and culture of Kam Tin in Yuen Long and How Yogis Read had yoga instructor Caren Lau talking about reading and writing, with a yoga demonstration to help participants relax. The SHKP Reading Club will lead participants on a tour of special stairways and streets in historic quarters in Central and Sheung Wan in late November, with Walk in Hong Kong founder Paul Chan looking at the golden age of printing and visiting family-run, movable-type company that is over half a century old, and appreciating local craftsmanship and culture.
