Helping young people discover workplace potential

Success doesn't depend on where life's journey starts and there are ways to gain knowledge besides traditional education. SHKP and Breakthrough again offered on-the-job training to young participants in the 2016 Modern Apprenticeship programme this year. A ceremony was held for the graduates recently.

SHKP mentors guide apprentices

SHKP Executive Director Adam Kwok encouraged the young graduates at the ceremony to learn and discover themselves in different ways. He was also pleased with the SHKP staff who acted as mentors, which showed SHKP belief in passing experience on to the young generation and giving back to society. The 18 apprentices who graduated thanked the SHKP mentors and Breakthrough tutors for their guidance. Apprentice Ng Sze-wang thanked his mentor for listening to him even after office hours and said their friendship now goes beyond work. Apprentice Cheng Man-ho was very interested in construction and happy with an arrangement that let him take on related tasks to get exposure in the field.
