SHKP-Kwoks' Foundation scholarships at Shanghai Jiao Tong University continue

The SHKP-Kwoks' Foundation began offering Shanghai Jiao Tong University scholarships in 2007 to help promising students with limited means complete undergraduate studies. A second endowment this year has brought the aggregate donation to RMB8 million; funding for close to 2,000 scholarships.

Helping disadvantaged students get the education they desire

Shanghai Jiao Tong University President Zhang Jie attended a ceremony in Hong Kong to mark the donation and thanked the Foundation for helping underprivileged students. He said that some scholarship recipients either have gone or will go on to study master's degrees or doctorates to fulfill their ambitions. Shanghai Jiao Tong has also collaborated with noted universities around the world in recent years to offer its students opportunities for overseas study or exchange to broaden their horizons and vision.

Foundation Executive Director Amy Kwok said that tuition can be a major expense for mainland students from poor families, so the Foundation offers scholarships at Shanghai Jiao Tong to help them to a better future with education. Amy Kwok said the Foundation was pleased to see Shanghai Jiao Tong establish an extensive network within the country and abroad for academic exchange, encouraging students to combine knowledge with innovation and promoting national and individual development.
