SHKP Reading Club

SHKP Reading Club's online reading platform, Read for More, interviews artists from time to time, learning how they use reading to nourish their souls and find inspiration for their performances. This provides an insight into the lesser-known avid reader side of them. TVB Best Actress Natalie Tong confessed that when she felt lost, she discovered her love for books on religious philosophy. She particularly recommends the work of the great meditation master, Yongey Mingyur Rinpoche, The Joy of Living: Unlocking the Secret and Science of Happiness. Alex Fong, nicknamed "Little Flying Fish", enjoys reading the autobiographies of basketball stars, from which he learns tips for overcoming adversity. Commercial Radio Hong Kong's Principal Advisor Stephen Chan believes that the best way to train memory is by repetition. He found that Agatha Christie's novels were the perfect pairing for him growing up. Singer-songwriter Panther Chan likes to read spiritual and motivational books in search of the answers to life issues. SHKP-Kwoks' Foundation

SHKP-Kwoks' Foundation supports national education and training in a variety of forms. In recent years, the Foundation has actively participated in and supported poverty alleviation projects on the mainland. Guizhou used to be the province with the highest rate of poverty in the country. Since late last year, 66 underprivileged counties in the province have been raised from poverty. The Foundation set up a scholarship programme with Guizhou University in 2004. For the programme, the Foundation has donated nearly RMB13 million and benefitted more than 2,000 students to date. Each year, the Foundation office receives letters of gratitude from beneficiary students across the country. One of the beneficiary students from Guizhou University believes that learning is a blessing and another from Hunan University praised the Foundation for its devotion, philanthropy and care. A scholarship-recipient from Southeast University came to understand that knowledge can change one's life. It is touching to see from their thank-you letters that the students are thriving and full of gratitude.
