SHKP Club survey offers hints on communication in building a sweet family

We all want to see our loved ones happy and spared from distress. Recently, the SHKP Club conducted a telephone survey about Hong Kong families with over 500 people aged 15 or above who are playing different roles in the family. The survey aims to find out what people say or do that delights or upsets family members most. We hope the findings help everyone better understand family members and foster intimacy within a family.

Say moving words to your loved ones

The survey shows that every family member desires recognition and support. Around 40-50% of married couples thought the most heart-warming words from their significant others are "I will support you no matter what" and "thank you for the hard work today". For those who responded as parents, sons or daughters, it's care and attention, and being together with the family that count. Around 40-50% of respondents thought simple remarks like "let's go for dim sum" (47% of parents), "I will be a good son / daughter" (38% of parents) and "it's getting cold; put some more clothes on!" (52% of sons / daughters) are most touching. Other useful findings on what people say or do that delights or upsets family members most will be uploaded to the SHKP Club website, allowing us to better understand the expectations from our family members.
