Summer camps at Noah's Ark Hong Kong enhance children's learning skills

Last summer, Noah's Ark Hong Kong launched its first summer camp, and the response was very enthusiastic — some activities were fully booked right away. This newsletter now proudly announces the launch of Noah's Academy Summer Camps 2018, to be held during July and August. These camps will stimulate children's curiosity and yearning for knowledge in five areas: leadership training, robotics, English, drama training and exploring nature.

Famous SuperCamp®

Noah's Ark proudly presents the famous US program SuperCamp®! It will offer valuable learning and life skills to participants through the Quantum Learning Method (writing, reading, note taking and mind mapping, memory, study strategies) while giving them a boost in confidence, motivation and character direction to grow and be successful to be the great leaders of tomorrow.

STREAM: Sharpens problem-solving skills

Robotics Action Summer Camps – The Robotics Challenge is inspired by state-of-the-art 'STREAM' curriculum that integrates science, technology, robotics, engineering, art and mathematics. During the day camp that runs for four consecutive days, children aged 8-12 can learn the basics of robot design and assembly which help stimulate their interest in scientific exploration. They will also carry out small experiments to learn how to apply computational thinking in daily life.

Drama education helps children grow

The Chocolate Theatre Camp is inspired by Roald Dahl's classic tale for children - Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Drama teachers from the Chung Ying Theatre will direct 6-9 year-olds as they act out the story and receive training in communication skills. This will help the participants discover their inner potential and achieve comprehensive and balanced development. The activity will be conducted mainly in English, supplemented by Cantonese. Aside from taking part in the English interactive theatre workshop, children will visit the Schoggi Meier Chocolate Factory, and get a chance to design and handmake rose lollipops while also enjoying the experience of being cocoa farmers.

Making friends with nature

Nature Mysteries Exploration Camp requires one overnight stay. Activities for participants aged 8-12 will include learning to cook in the wild, stargazing with professional equipment, handcrafting eco-friendly bottles, and hunting nature treasures with a GPS device. More importantly, these activities offer a life-enriching experience by helping children temporarily leave their familiar home environments to actively explore and appreciate the nature. It also sparks a curiosity in things as well as living creatures outside the electronic world, and helps cultivate in youngsters an ability to look after themselves on a daily basis, while learning how to interact with strangers and accommodate others.

Enhancing English ability and interest

D.R.E.A.M. Camp 2018 will be led by instructors who are certified to Teach English as a Second Language (TESL), assisted by volunteers who are students at Brown University, an Ivy League school in the US. They will provide the 10-12 year old participants with English-language activities in drama, reading, writing, art and music. The humanities department at Brown University is particularly outstanding, and its research in areas such as classical literature, English and the arts has long ranked among the best globally, earning high praise from academia. These activities will provide a fun-filled environment for learning and stimulate a desire for ongoing knowledge acquisition.
