SHKP Club recently organised a 5G LAB@sky100 guided tour for members to visit the brand-new 5G LAB of SmarTone at the sky100 Hong Kong Observation Deck (sky100). During the tour, a dedicated guide showed Star members and their children around the advanced 5G technology facilities that are based at sky100, exploring smart living and innovative ideas, as well as having family fun.
5G LAB is home to a range of exhibition zones, such as Smart Town Planning, Smart Safety Monitoring and Smart Home, etc. With the help of a guided tour and interactive demonstrations, members and their children learned about the 5G technology applications across different industries and their uses in day-to-day life. For example, there is a newly added installation named Smart Transport, showcasing how bus companies apply 5G technology to find out the number of passengers waiting at a bus stop, and instantly adjust the bus schedule to improve passenger experience. Another latest addition, Smart Retail, demonstrates how supermarkets use 5G technology and video analytics to analyse customer preferences in real time. At the 5G lab, whilst members got to grips with smart 5G life, their children worked through a well-designed 5G LAB Kids Quiz worksheet to acquire 5G knowledge with fun. During the visit, members were able to enjoy the fabulous 360-degree, unobstructed views of Hong Kong from sky100, at an altitude of 393 meters, all the while knowing more about the International Commerce Centre (ICC), its surrounding area and architecture. They could also experience the fastest double-decker lift in Hong Kong. All these enriched members' experiences.
“The 5G LAB was innovative, and the VR Scaffolding Freefall demo was so cool and unforgettable. Smart Transport was my favourite exhibition zone. Using 5G technology and mobile apps to find out about bus occupancy in real time is really useful. The KMB Selfie Spot was also very attractive.”
