Sun Hung Kai Properties set up the SHKP Book Club to promote reading in the community. The Book Club is presenting a series of public seminars with noted authors and scholars speaking on reading-related topics, beginning with Professor Yu Dan from the Faculty of Media and Arts at Beijing Normal University speaking on the Philosophy of Life in Chinese Classics at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre on January 12. Professor Yu is a renowned Chinese scholar in the fields of media and arts, and she hosted the Lecture Room show on CCTV that examined the Analects of Confucius and Zhuangzi, contributing significantly to popularizing traditional Chinese scholarship. The SHKP Club reserved a number of seats for members so that they could learn from Professor Yu's insights.

Professor Yu explained how people could apply the philosophies from Chinese classics in their daily lives and exchanged ideas with the audience about reading. The seminar was very popular, drawing a full house and enthusiastic participation in the audience question and answer session. Members said it was an inspiring seminar that enhanced their appreciation of reading and philosophy. The SHKP Club will continue to stage different seminars for members in the future.
