Revisit the colourful story of Hong Kong on a journey through time at sky100

As most parents are busy training up their children with diverse programmes, have you thought about travelling back in time and show them how you grew up? The sky100 Hong Kong Observation Deck will stage a "Yesterday Once More" event this summer, enabling different generations to revisit the history of Hong Kong through changing times.

Seeing the old days anew

Red minibuses are one of the most popular forms of transport for people getting to work, school and going on outings, and its hand-written destination signs are a collective memory for the locals. This summer, you can find one of these legendary vehicles at sky100, giving everyone a chance to play driver! You can join a special workshop to write your own destinations signs under the guidance of Mak Kam-sang, the only remaining writer of minibus signs in Hong Kong after over 30 years in his craft. As you get to the east side of the deck, you will find yourself facing towering skyscrapers across Victoria Harbour outside the window on one side, and a reconstruction of an old street on the other – featuring old tenement buildings commonly seen half a century ago around Central and nostalgic little stores with their retro signs and metal mailboxes. Other great photo spots include a charcoal-fired egg waffle cart, dough doll stall, giant board game, typical Hong Kong public housing estate, old-fashioned photo studio and barbershop. At Sky Theatre, movie fans can see old-style posters and hand-written tickets dating back to the golden era of Hong Kong cinema. You might also find your favourite childhood snacks, drinks, groceries and toys at Store 393, or drop postcards into a vintage pillar postbox to share the sky-high experience with friends around the world.

Child ticket holders will receive a free Sky-high Children's Paradise booklet with an assortment of fun Hong Kong-style activities such as colourful exercises, spot the difference, classic paper-and-pencil game Peaceful War and other puzzles while they last during the promotion. And sky100 will offer T-shirt printing (HK$298 each) on Saturdays and Sundays, featuring a painting or photo by you and your children as a wonderful souvenir. You can also download the upgraded sky100 mobile app and explore Hong Kong of past and present through the VR tour function that offers an exciting 360° experience across the city.
