SHKP Vertical Runs for Charity are major annual sporting events and will once again make up the final two events of the Vertical World Circuit, with the Race to Hong Kong ICC on 6 December and Race to Shanghai IFC on 25 October. Registrations are now open, so come join us for better health!
SHKP Chairman and Managing Director and Event Organizing Committee Chairman Raymond Kwok spoke at the recent race announcement, "SHKP is dedicated to promoting a healthy, sustainable lifestyle with a special focus on community activities that integrate sport and charity. This will be the fourth SHKP Vertical Run for Charity and the aim is to stress the importance of fitness and health at the same time as we help needy people in our community. Response to the race is getting more enthusiastic every year, showing wider recognition of the event and the increasing popularity of vertical running." All proceeds from the SHKP Vertical Run for Charity will go to child and youth services in keeping with previous events. The official charities of the Race to Hong Kong ICC are the Community Chest of Hong Kong and the Hong Kong Council of Social Service. All registration fees for the Race to Shanghai IFC will be donated to the Shanghai Children's Health Foundation to help treat sick children at the Shanghai Children's Medical Center with no deduction for administrative expenses.
The Race to Shanghai IFC will be held in October, with categories including Elite Race, Individual Race, Corporate/Team Relay, Fun Climb A and the new Fun Climb B this year. Runners will experience the fun of vertical running by racing up 1,460 stairs. Applications will close on 27 September 2015 and runners from Hong Kong and all over the world are welcome to sign up.
To encourage public participation in the Race to Hong Kong ICC in December, a special early-bird registration offer before 18 September is available for the Corporate Relay and Fun Climb (excluding group C). Meanwhile, for the very first time, the organizer will sponsor the men's and women's overall champions in the Individual races in the 2016 Vertical World Circuit, promoting the spirit of sport for charity. In the coming months, the organizer will launch a series of community activities including Design Your Staircase and Step Up for Fitness contests. Workshops will also be held to enhance people's understanding of stair climbing and spur interest in the sport at schools and in different segments of the community.
