Cherish the Earth with children

There is a saying that "nothing is trivial in a child's eyes" and seeing children devote full concentration to minor things can be touching. A group of kindergarten and primary students recently participated in the SHKP Love Nature Campaign drawing competition to spread the message of loving the Earth.

Seeing the world through innocent eyes

The winner of the junior division was Chung Wing-tung and second was Yuen Ho-wang, both P3 students. They used hearts as the main themes of their drawings. Chung had previously taken part in an SHKP Love Nature Campaign beach clean-up with her parents and hoped that people would be conscientious, stop littering and protect nature. Yuen drew a special "window of heart" that tells people to appreciate the wonderful marine and land creatures, and more importantly expresses her wish that countryside, habitat of animals, could be kept clean with a joint effort by everyone.

SHKP fully supports eco-friendliness

SHKP Executive Director and Deputy Managing Director Mike Wong was at the prize presentation ceremony and awarded book coupons to winning students. He said that SHKP considered environmental protection essential to sustainable development and strived for that goal throughout its operations. The Love Nature Campaign organized by Green Power has been supported by SHKP since its launch in 2011 and has staged nearly 30 school visits and eco-tours, leading over 15,000 primary school students to explore the wonders of nature and protect the environment so far. The activities included 16 clean-ups that have helped conserve the countryside and coastal regions by collecting nearly 13,000 kilograms of waste and recyclable materials.
