Corporate Social Responsibility

SHKP named Caring Company for the 18th consecutive year

Sun Hung Kai Properties (SHKP) has been named a Caring Company by the Hong Kong Council of Social Service for the 18th consecutive year recently, and 85 of its business units, with businesses ranging from shopping malls and property management to construction and hotel, have earned the same recognition. The Caring Company Scheme aims to connect the business sector, the public and the social service sector, inspire corporate social responsibility, and promote partnerships among business and social service partners. Over the years, SHKP has been a responsible corporate citizen committed to caring for the community and supporting the underprivileged and young people through various initiatives, including developing United Court, a large-scale transitional housing project announced early this year, with the Hong Kong Sheng Kung Hui Welfare Council. Amid the coronavirus pandemic, SHKP has provided rent reductions for shopping mall tenants affected by the pandemic for several months, implemented a series of anti-pandemic measures across its malls and offices, donated surgical masks to the Hospital Authority and various social service organisations, and provided subdivided unit households with rent subsidies.

The clips narrated by the Voice of Read for More winners include: A piece by Agnes Tin, Honorary Lecturer at The University of Hong Kong's Centre on Behavioural Health, which explains how to transform the pain experienced during the death of a loved one into nostalgia and a part of life, narrated by the champion, Sally Leung; a piece written by children's author, Ho Tsz, which addresses the struggles and confusion that young people face during their schooling years, narrated by second prize winner, Derek Poon. The platform also features an audio clip from a book written by Sunny Chan, director of the film Men On The Dragon, in which Sunny shares his views on work life. SHKP-Kwoks' Foundation

SHKP-Kwoks' Foundation Associate Director Terry Li visited Nanjing to attend Southeast University's scholarship presentation ceremony, encouraging students to continue their hard work. Southeast University has a reputation for high-calibre engineering and architecture graduates. SHKP-Kwoks' Foundation has worked with the University to establish a scholarship programme since 2014. The programme provides financial aid for outstanding students with limited financial means to complete undergraduate degrees, and the most outstanding student beneficiaries receive scholarships. Despite the great adversity faced, student beneficiaries forge their way upstream to success under the care of SHKP-Kwoks' Foundation. They have even set up the Southeast University SHKP Social Service Association and spent their spare time visiting the elderly at local nursing homes at the end of last year.
