Encouraging further study for mainland and Hong Kong talents

'Our nation's rapid development and frequent contacts with foreign countries demand English proficiency by government officials. The SHKP-Kwoks' Foundation would like to express its appreciation to the United Front Work Department of the CPC Central Committee, the Academy of Chinese Culture and the Hong Kong Polytechnic University for promoting this foresighted, worthy project.' said Foundation Executive Director Amy Kwok during a reception with the participants to congratulate them upon their completion of the programme with flying colours.

Enhancing mainland officials' competitiveness on international stage

The SHKP-Kwoks' Foundation has sponsored the English Training Programme for mainland government officials for ten consecutive years in Beijing, Jiangsu, Gansu and Tibet. It also set up advanced programme in 2012 and 2014 in Hong Kong organized by the Hong Kong Polytechnic University to provide opportunities to outstanding participants to further their English study in Hong Kong. The Foundation has contributed over RMB20 million training 900-plus mainland officials to date. Participants from various provinces and cities received stringent training in a closed-loop learning environment. Through sharing and encouragement among fellow participants, dedicated teaching by the trainers, and the well-designed curriculum, the trainees' English standard was successfully raised and international outlook was also broadened.

First step to make dreams come true

Studying abroad in a renowned university is dream come true for many. To make it happen the SHKP-Kwoks' Foundation continued to collaborate with The Cambridge Commonwealth, European and International Trust (CCEIT) of the University of Cambridge to launch the 2014 Full-cost Scholarship Scheme for PhD and Master's students. The scholarships are open to all disciplines and subjects. Eligible applicants must be citizens and permanent residents of the People's Republic of China or Hong Kong of Chinese nationality and holding an offer of admission from the University of Cambridge, aged under 37. Applications for this year's scholarships have been very enthusiastic, and successful applicants will be granted scholarships to cover their tuition fees and living costs, realizing their dreams of studying abroad. The scholarship recipients will return to work in homeland after graduation in a relevant scientific, educational or research field to make their contributions to the nation.
