Unrelenting support for services benefitting disadvantaged children and youth

Guided by its long-standing commitment to Building Homes with Heart, Sun Hung Kai Properties (SHKP) promotes healthy living and encourages exercise for good. Every year, it organises the SHKP Vertical Run for Charity – Race to Hong Kong ICC and takes on title and charity sponsorship of the Sun Hung Kai Properties Hong Kong Cyclothon. A cheque presentation ceremony was recently held formalising SHKP's donations.

Widespread enthusiastic support for 'exercise for good'

Gross proceeds from the SHKP Vertical Run for Charity – Race to Hong Kong ICC and part of the enrolment fees from the Sun Hung Kai Properties Hong Kong Cyclothon will go to charity. Along with extra donations from SHKP, total donations from the two events amounted to HK$8.68 million in 2017.

Projects funded by the donation include the SHKP Rainbow with KIDS, an initiative of The Hong Kong Council of Social Service designed to help psychologically traumatised children and youth regain self-confidence and grow healthily despite encountering family crises such as loss of parents, domestic violence and other serious issues. Another programme benefitting from the event is The Boys' & Girls' Clubs Association of Hong Kong's SHKP-Science and Innovation Project for the Gifted, which provides free STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) education to nurture gifted children from disadvantaged families by developing their thinking skills and stimulating creativity. Subsidised through The Community Chest of Hong Kong, donations will also go to Stewards' Youth Outlook - Youth Mental Health Service to help mentally or emotionally troubled teenagers get timely and appropriate support, St. James' Settlement's 'Grow Goal Glow' Life Planning Creator which equips tertiary students with a better understanding of the workplace to help boost their confidence to carve out future careers as well as Heep Hong Society's 'A Holistic Employment Support Scheme' which offers employment support to high-functioning adults with autism spectrum disorder.
