Showing true love with simple words

A 'Words-from-the-Heart' programme was held at six SHKP malls to encourage people to show love for family, as part of the Understand Your Loved Ones initiative.

Over 30,000 Word-from-the-Heart cards were given out to mall visitors and an e-card was available on the Club's web site to let people send love to their dear ones. Many of the messages showed Hong Kong people's love and care for family despite their busy lives.

Young people show love openly

Most people love their family but few say so explicitly. Many just show by gestures. The Club hopes the Words-from-the-Heart programme will encourage people to tell family members they love them. Simple words can be powerful in enhancing mutual understanding and trust in a family.

An analysis of the messages sent during programme showed several trends. Young people for example are more prone to showing love with remarks like 'you're my love' and 'thank you so much'. People over 30 usually give their loved ones happy, more subtle expressions of love. The phrases on the wishing cards are simple, but people were touched to hear their dear ones say the words.
