My Loving Home Stories arouse attention

The Club's My Loving Home Story competition finished earlier and a prize presentation was held, where winners and families shared loving home stories.

Mouth-painting a colourful life

The 5,000 entries to the contest show strong family love. The winner Wai Pa is champion of the senior category. He became determined to learn mouth painting after a degenerative disease left him unable to move his limbs. It was difficult at first, but he persevered with his family's encouragement. He drew a picture to pay tribute to his mother's unceasing love and care. His positive attitude and perseverance were shown in his drawing talents.

Wai Pa said: "My paintings used to be very grey, but as I became happier my paintings are more colourful." He has promised himself to finish an 80-foot Live Colourfully Everyday painting that will show life in Hong Kong and encourage people to live with passion.

Sticky rice dumpling full of love

The winner in the member category was Chow Ka Ying. She was worried about her new job and one day cried about it in front of her parents. Instead of asking a lot of questions, her dad gave her a box of sticky mango rice dumplings (her favourite dessert). He put a note with the dessert that said: "My dearest daughter, please accept this gift. With love, Dad" A simple line expressing so much love touched Ka Ying's heart. She later found out that the bakery was closing and her dad asked the chef to make the rice dumplings especially for her. Chow Ka Ying said: "Don't hesitate to show love for family, as this will help build harmony."

The Club has posted some of the winning entries on the site to encourage the loving home ideal among members and the public.
